Hello
My name is Kristin. I am passionate about theatre. I love writing stories and bringing them to life on the stage. Let me show you around my favorite city in the world--London, England--and introduce you to its rich theatrical history and culture. While we are there, we'll see some amazing sights, watch live shows, and learn to analyze them through a playwright's eyes. That's what I am: a playwright. Over the month we'll spend together, I'll teach you the basics of playwriting (character, plot, setting, theme, dialogue, etc.). By the end, you'll have an awesome souvenir of our time together and your experience in London: your own short play!

Favorites
Favorite Play (to read)?
I always find myself coming back to Arthur Miller's All My Sons and William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Not only do I notice something new every time I read them and learn from from them as a writer, but they're just really great stories and good reads. Favorite Play you've seen performed live? I've seen some amazing talent in some incredible shows, but the one that stands in my mind like no other is Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem. I saw the original cast perform it in the West End in the Spring of 2010. Favorite Musical? I was very lucky to see AIDA when it was still on Broadway. It still haunts to this day. I nearly cry just thinking about it. Favorite spot in London? Trafalgar Square. It's so full of life! It's like you can feel the blood of the city pulsing though. I love to take a lunch down, sit on the steps and watch people come and go. Favorite place to eat in London? Nandos. It's a chain, but it is delicious. Also, free refills, which you won't find often. And, they have all you can eat frozen yogurt. Sunshine vanilla is the best--especially after a spicy chicken pita with pineapple. Yum, I'm hungry now. Favorite thing to do in London? On a lazy Sunday afternoon, get a crepe from Le Creperie de Hampstead, and then walk over to Hampstead Heath. Spend a day in the park with friends or lying on the grass writing in my notebook. |
